MapHook links social media, location-based content

MapHook has launched its self-named journal and social networking application for the iPhone and PC. The MapHook app allows users to create location-based entries dubbed "hooks" about events, activities and places that can be shared with other users.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0.2 rolls out

Research In Motion has made available version 5.0.2 of its BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 secure server software. It features single sign-on, initial support for “sandboxing” to keep business and personal content separate on employee-owned smartphones, and support for Microsoft Hyper-V for server virtualization.

Gemalto, partnersbring NFC to Thailand

Gemalto said it will provide its Trusted Services Management service to support the launch of near-field communication applications in Thailand. The project has Gemalto partnering with KASIKORNBANK and operator Advanced Info Services.

WristOffice, an accessory that attaches to the user’s wrist and works with most mobile devices, is being offered as a solution to the iPhone 4G’s antenna problem. Creator Walt Froloff said that with the “hands free” accessory, iPhone users no longer have to hold their device and worry about signal loss.

itsmy said it is now using its platform and social community skills to develop sticky, casual multiplayer games. The company’s focus is on mobile customers of all social networks, particularly those using touchscreen devices.

ViewRanger GPS covers New Zealand

Augmentra said its navigation app ViewRanger GPS now covers New Zealand following the conclusion of a licensing agreement with the country’s national mapping agency. New Zealand 1:50K topographic mapping can now be purchased for the iPhone, Android and Symbian platforms.

SPB Software has released the WAP version of its flagship mobile solution SPB TV. Already available on iPhone, Android, Symbian, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, and WebOS smartphones, SPB Software’s free mobile IP TV solution allows access to over a 150 subscription-free TV channels from more than 20 countries.
