The first Apple Store in Hong Kong might open on September 24, becoming the company's 100th store globally, according to a report by local Chinese-language newspaper Ming Pao Daily.

Though Apple in the past mentioned the plan of opening 25 stores in China including one in Hong Kong, the company has never released information on the exact location and open date of the Hong Kong store.

The report said the 2-storey store will be in the IFC Mall in Central, occupying a space of 20,000 square feet. According to the report, DG Lifestyle —an existing Apple reseller in the same mall—will move out of the mall this week to avoid competition with Apple.

Apple has signed a 10-year lease agreement with IFC Mall and has a plan to open its second and third stores in Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui.
