Huawei Marine Networks has wrapped up the fourth Asia-Pacfic Submarine Networks Forum in Shenzhen. The event attracted more than 300 participants from across industry and government.
At the event, Pakistan network service provider Cybernet and Djibouti Telecom signed a landing party agreement for the planned PEACE subsea cable linking Pakistan with a number of MEA and European countries, including Djibouti.
Huawei Marine itself also signed an agreement to more closely collaborate with China Aviation Cloud on a China-Thailand subsea cable project.
The forum also saw the release of a white paper from the China Communications Research Institute covering trends in global subsea cable development, as well as the current status and future development suggestions for subsea cable development in China.
Speaking at the opening presentation for the forum, Huawei Marine COO Mao Shengiang said the subsea cable sector has entered a “golden age” of its development.
“Facing change and new trends, we need to work with all parties to explore more diversified models of cooperation to jointly promote the development of the submarine cable industry,” he said.
“Over the past ten years, Huawei Marine has focused on research and innovation, and we have successfully signed 90 projects covering more than 75 countries. The total length of construction projects exceeds 50,000 kilometers.”
