US-based Internet giant AOL launched a free anti-virus program for online users, providing real-time scanning and hourly updates, an AFP report said.
The AFP report said the new software, called Active Virus Shield, is powered by Kaspersky Lab, an Internet security solutions provider.
AOL will also allow Internet Explorer users to install a free security toolbar when they download the software, it said.
