Alcatel has received an order worth 270 million euros ($347 million) from Australia's Telstra, an AFP report said.

The AFP report, citing the two firms, said Alcatel is to set up an Internet network for five Australian cities, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

The deal was reached under terms of an Alcatel-Telstra partnership announced in November 2005 to overhaul Telstra's communication network, the AFP report said.
