Online marketplace Lazada and Alcatel Onetouch has announced an exclusive partnership to sell the Flash Plus smartphone online.
"We picked Lazada as an exclusive partner because of their reach across Southeast Asia, making it easy for us to have one partner to connect to approximately 550 million consumers,” said Lei Zhang, country manager of Alcatel Onetouch Philippines.
He said both companies are eyeing to sell 500,000 units in all six countries in the region where Lazada has presence - Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
In the Philippines, the smartphone will start selling online on 15 May at a retail price of P6,490 ($145.70). “The plan is to move forward with e-commerce. We want to make our campaign successful,” Lei said.
Inanc Balci, CEO of Lazada Philippines, said that by partnering with Alcatel, they hope to give customers access to exclusive products such as the Flash Plus using Lozada’s one-stop shop platform and using its nationwide free cash on delivery service.
“Online shopping in the Philippines is gaining momentum. There are several benefits of buying online. One of them is that we can offer the products at more affordable price to customers. Another thing is regardless of where you live in any island in the Philippines, you can buy this smartphone. You don’t have to go to the shopping mall or offline store,” he explained.
The Lazada chief emphasized that Philippine customers are getting very tech and mobile shopping is getting big in the country. “In fact, more than 50% of Lazada Philippines’ traffic is from mobile devices,” he said.
Yogi Babria, business development director Malaysia-APAC, TCT Mobile Malaysia, said the Flash Plus is an affordable smartphone that has a 13 MP rear camera and 8 MP front camera with voice recognition capabilities and eding software. It has 5.5” IPS HD Display and long lasting battery power.
