Alcatel and Lucent Technologies said they still expect to complete their merger by the end of this year, signalling their confidence in securing key US regulatory approval of the deal soon.
Lucent's famed Bell Labs conducts classified work for the US government, which means the project must receive approval from the US Treasury's Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States (CFIUS).
The process for attaining this approval is ongoing, Alcatel and Lucent said in statements released as part of a merger roadshow to investors.
French and US market regulators have already approved the deal, and anti-trust clearance has also been secured in the US and the EU.
