3G drives base-station growth

While overall base station deployment has been declining for some time, W-CDMA and cdma2000 1x installations are actually growing in number worldwide. ABI Research attributes this growth to the progress these two technologies has made in key markets, prompting mobile operators to allot higher capital expenditures for such kinds of base stations. The improving business climate for W-CDMA and cdma2000 1x, which is expected to continue in the longer term, is mainly driven by the growing traction of wireless data services.
