Singapore, November 16, 2017 – Telecom Asia marked the tenth anniversary of its Readers' Choice & Innovation Awards at the Novotel Hotel in Singapore Thursday night. A total of 21 awards were presented to 17 firms during a gala awards ceremony.
Huawei Technologies was the big winner with awards in three categories. The company’s latest 5G offering—New Radio and New Use Cases with Verification—won for 5G Innovation of the Year. The Shenzhen-based firm also took IoT/M2M Solution Innovation of the Year with their OceanConnect IoT Platform, and Smart City Innovation of the Year with their Smart City Solutions.
Cisco Systems earned a pair of gongs as Cisco SON (Self Optimizing Network) took Network Optimization Innovation of the Year, and Next Gen SDN/NFV Platform won NFV Innovation of the Year. Ciena also won two awards with Blue Planet Manage, Control and Plan (SDN Innovation of the Year), and Analytics Innovation of the Year for Blue Planet Analytics.
Shenzhen-based ZTE won Fixed Broadband Innovation of the Year for ZTE Titan, its flagship optical access platform. Nokia picked up Cloud Innovation of the Year for the Finnish firm's integrated CloudBand software portfolio.
The Data Center Innovation of the Year prize went to Juniper Networks for their Open Cloud Interconnect Solution. Fortinet's FortiGate-7000 series won the Telecoms Security Innovation of the Year award.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon X16 LTE modem (Gigabit class LTE modem) won LTE Innovation of the Year, while VoLTE Innovation of the Year was awarded to Spirent for their Umetrix Voice platform (Nomad). Comba Telecom earned the Small-cell Innovation of the Year prize for their Scalable Heterogeneous Network Solution.
Openet's Telco as a Service was selected as OSS Innovation of the Year. The BSS Innovation of the Year was picked up by Sterlite Technologies for LTE Revenue & Customer Management. The Test & Measurement Innovation of the Year award went to Ixia's IxLoad LTE XAir2 emulation tester.
CEM Innovation of the Year was scooped up by Comptel for Fastermind. Infinera won Optical Network Innovation of the Year for its 5G-ready Mobile Fronthaul Solution.
Video Platform Innovation of the Year went to Openwave Mobility for their Video Traffic Manager. Verimatrix picked up the OTT Innovation of the Year for MultiRights OTT Plus.
Each year Telecom Asia organizes the Readers’ Choice & Innovation Awards to recognize the advancements and contributions of the industry’s top vendors from the Asia-Pacific region.
The awards continue to reward proven technologies and also reflect 5G advances, said Telecom Asia managing editor Stefan Hammond. “The elusive 5G standards became clearer in 2017," he said. “We at Questex Media Group and Telecom Asia congratulate this year's winners and look forward to more innovative products, partnerships, and use-cases as telecoms technology continues to advance.”
The editors of Telecom Asia narrowed down the nominations from readers for 21 categories to a shortlist of 90 entries, representing 48 companies. Voting was open to our online subscriber base of service providers in Asia.
