Spain Notable Misses From the Euro 2024 Squad
Marco Asensio
PSG forward Marco Asensio has not been included in the provisional squad announced by Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente ahead of Euro 2024. Asensio has only managed to score four goals and provide five assists for Paris Saint-Germain in the 2023-24 Ligue 1 season.
Luis de la Fuente spoke about Asensio missing the provisional squad on Monday and said
"I admire Asensio. Let's focus on those who are here and give them the value they deserve," coach Luis de la Fuente told a news conference on Monday. "Others may have doubts, but I'm clear about it as of today. Maybe one of those players that now I'm thinking that wouldn't make the cut for the tournament changes my mind and makes his case to deserve a place in the final 26-man squad."
Gavi
Barcelona and Spain Forward Pablo Martín Páez Gavira has also not been included in the squad as a result of the ACL tear injury that he sustained on Spain duty in October.
