Amorim was appointed as the manager of Manchester United, joining the club from Sporting Lisbon for a buyout fee of £9.2 million. He took over from Erik ten Hag, who had held the position for over two years but faced a difficult start to the season. Since Amorim's appointment, United have lost five of their last seven matches across all competitions, including a 2-0 defeat to Wolves on Thursday, Boxing Day.

After the Wolves game, Amorim admitted that his job could already be under threat and that he is feeling the pressure over his future at United.

Amorim Said
‘I know the business that I'm in. ‘The manager of Manchester United can never, no matter what, be comfortable. ‘I know that if we don't win, regardless, if they pay the buyout or not, I know that every manager is in danger. I like that because that is the job, so I understand the question. ‘You can argue that I have been here one month and I’ve had four training (sessions), but we are not winning. That is the reality and I'm quite comfortable with that.’

The Portuguese tactician has now become the first United manager to lose five or more of his first 10 matches in charge since Walter Crickmer in January 1932, with the club languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already shown his ruthless side, with sporting director Dan Ashworth being shown the door after just 159 days at Old Trafford.

United will now turn their attention to the next game as they will host Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Monday with two key starters set to miss the match. Captain Bruno Fernandes will miss the match following his red card in the 2-0 loss to Wolves on Boxing Day, while midfielder Manuel Ugarte is suspended after accumulating his fifth booking of the season.
