New Disciplines at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris
The 2024 Paris Olympics will feature several new thrilling games. Breaking will make its debut while other games like climbing, skateboarding and surfing will be included after making a debut in Tokyo olympics. Here are the new sports in the 2024 olympic games:
Breaking
Breaking, which is also known as breakdancing will be featured in this year’s Paris olympics for the first time. Breakdance originated in the Bronx in 1970s, and over the years it has become a competitive sporting international event. The sport was included in the 2018 youth Olympics in Bueno Aires and it was picked as a new sports in 2024 Paris Olympics.
Breaking will have two events, one for men and another for women. According to the Olympics website, there will be 16 B-Boys and 16 B-Girls who will face off in solo competitions. The athletes will combine several power moves like windmills, freezes, and 6-step, improvising DJ’s beats. The break-dancers are judged based on their techniques, execution, vocabulary, originality and musicality. The breaking competition will take place from August 9-10.
Skateboarding
Skateboarding is a recenetly introduced olympic sport that will return in Paris. The sport made its debut in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (happended in 2021 due to Coranvirus Pendmic) and it will be held at Place de La Concorde in Paris, France. It will include two categories for both men and women - park and streek as it did in Tokyo olympics. The park category features bowls and bends, making it challenging for skaters to achieve speed and do mid-air tricks. The street category immitates an urban environment featuring stairs and handrails. Athletes do their tricks and they are judged depending on how they control their skateboards in two 45-second run with five tricks.
This game was dominated by Japan in Tokyo summer games. Sakura Yosozumi of Japan won a gold medal in men’s park and Momiji Nishiya of Japan won the gold medal in street-style for women’s competition in Japan. Keegan Palmer of Australia won a gold meda in men’s park while Yuto Horigome of Japan won gold in the street-style in mens competition in Tokyo.

Karate made its debut in Tokyo olympics. However, the sport will not be included in the 2024 Paris olympics. Baseball and softball have also been excluded in the Paris olympics but they will be back. There is no public information from IOC as to whey these sports will not be features in the Paris Olympics.
New Disciplines and Sports at the 2028 Olympic Games
The Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympic Games will feature new disciplines and sports. Flag football will make a debut and squash will be an optional sport. Baseball, cricket, and softball will return for the first time since 1990, and lacrosse since 1908.
