Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has expressed his disappointment with the club's failure to offer him a new contract at this point in the season, admitting he is "probably more out than in" as things stand.
Bet Premier League on Bet365The 32-year-old, Liverpool's top scorer this season with 12 goals, is approaching the final six months of his Liverpool contract, and his future at the club is now looking like a doubt with the Egyptian forward commenting after Liverpool's win over Southampton confirming the news.
"We are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in. You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December, and I haven’t received anything yet about my future. I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”
Salah scored a brace on Sunday as Liverpool beat Southampton 3-2 to move eight points clear at the top of the Premier League. At the age of 32, he's shown no signs of slowing down as Salah continues to bang in goals since joining the Reds from Roma in 2017. He further expresses his disappointment about not yet receiving an offer for a contract at this stage of the season when asked by a reporter if he was 'disappointed' that he is yet to receive an offer to extend his deal.
"Of course, yeah. "I'm not going to retire soon, so I'm just playing, focusing on the season, and I'm trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I'm disappointed, but we will see."
Earlier last month, Salah also wrote on X after the forward scored the winner in Liverpool's 2-1 victory against Brighton that "No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like."
Salah is one of three high-profile Liverpool players coming towards the end of their deals. Trent Alexander-Arnold and club captain Virgil van Dijk are both out of contract at the same time as Salah.
