Saka was forced off during the first half at Selhurst Park, with the winger holding his hamstring and falling to the ground at Selhurst Park on Saturday night. Despite the England star's injury, Arsenal went on to win the game 5-1, with the Gunners now six points behind Liverpool following the end of matchday 17.

Arteta has now confirmed to a reporter that the Gunners will have to deal without their star man for an extended period.

Arteta told reporters.
"It's not looking good, he's going to be out for many weeks. When asked about dealing with the absence, he said: "I’m putting some ideas together. I haven’t got there yet but I have a few. "I want to speak with them as well and take it in a positive way," the Spaniard added. "It means we’re going to be different. We went through the period with Martin [Odegaard] and the period with five, six defenders missing. We’re looking at it with positive energy."

The Spaniard believes Martinelli could be a long-term solution for that position, especially with Raheem Sterling also out injured. However, the club will be exploring additional options.

The Gunners boss continued
'I’m putting some ideas together.' I haven’t got there yet but I have a few. I want to speak with them as well and take it in a positive way. It means we’re going to be different.

Saka has been in outstanding form for Arsenal this season, scoring nine goals and providing 13 assists in 24 appearances. Now Arsenal will be back to Premier League action on December 27, with Ipswich Town ready to make the trip to the Emirates Stadium.
