Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has updated fans on Bukayo Saka's injury, stating that the winger will be sidelined for "many weeks" after sustaining the injury during the match against Crystal Palace.
Bet Premier League on Bet365Saka was forced off during the first half at Selhurst Park, with the winger holding his hamstring and falling to the ground at Selhurst Park on Saturday night. Despite the England star's injury, Arsenal went on to win the game 5-1, with the Gunners now six points behind Liverpool following the end of matchday 17.
Arteta has now confirmed to a reporter that the Gunners will have to deal without their star man for an extended period.
"It's not looking good, he's going to be out for many weeks. When asked about dealing with the absence, he said: "I’m putting some ideas together. I haven’t got there yet but I have a few. "I want to speak with them as well and take it in a positive way," the Spaniard added. "It means we’re going to be different. We went through the period with Martin [Odegaard] and the period with five, six defenders missing. We’re looking at it with positive energy."
The Spaniard believes Martinelli could be a long-term solution for that position, especially with Raheem Sterling also out injured. However, the club will be exploring additional options.
