Manchester United are reportedly weighing options to swap Marcus Rashford to land Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen in a bid to boost Ruben Amorim's attacking options.
Bet Premier League on Bet365Manchester United is willing to allow Marcus Rashford to leave during the January transfer window after he was left out by Amorim. The forward missed four consecutive matchday squads before being placed on the bench in the Red Devils' 2-0 defeat against Newcastle on Monday.
According to The Sun, Manchester United is considering a swap deal with Napoli to acquire Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker is currently on loan at Galatasaray and is eager to leave Napoli permanently. By including Marcus Rashford in the deal, Napoli could potentially lower Osimhen’s £62 million ($76.8 million) release clause. The two clubs had discussions over the summer, during which Scott McTominay found success in Italy after departing from Old Trafford.
United are aiming to sign a striker this January, as the Red Devils have been struggling to find balance in their attack. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have been having difficulties performing as the lone striker. As a result, United has been linked with several strikers, including Viktor Gyokeres, a former standout from Sporting CP under coach Amorim. However, they are currently facing financial constraints.
Oshimen has proven to be a hot striker since landing in the Turkey league following the fallout in the summer transfer, with the Nigerian striker already having scored 12 goals in 15 matches this season for Galatasaray.
Napoli manager Antonio Conte is reportedly interested in signing Marcus Rashford as the club aims for the Serie A title. Conte’s team is currently in second place, tied on points with Atalanta but trailing on goal difference. If Rashford makes the move to Napoli, he would reunite with former Manchester United teammates Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay.
