Kevin De Bruyne’s international future in Belgium is in doubt after he publicly criticized Domenico Tedesco's tactics, and also footage emerged of his frustration when talking to technical director Frank Vercauteren.
Bet With 1xBetThe 33-year-old Manchester City midfielder, during Belgium's 2-0 loss to France in the UEFA Nations League, was spotted expressing his frustration to technical director Frank Vercauteren in a heated post-match discussion, saying “I quit, I quit,” before stepping away from Vercauteren and towards France striker Kylian Mbappe.
De Bruyne was furious in post-match interviews at Parc Olympique Lyonnais as he slammed Belgium's tactics during the match.
We were six at the back. There was no connection. Not even in the second half. You're behind, right? 'I wonder what you see in the match. It is not about transitions. It is about the way of playing and people who do not do their job.'
De Bruyne has scored 30 goals and given 49 assists in his 107 senior appearances for Belgium, but could his brutal comment put an end to his international career?
Tedesco said he is yet to see the video during his post-match interview while claiming the Belgium captain is only being emotional.
'I didn't see the interview. After the huddle, I spoke to Kevin. 'You know, it's normal that he's disappointed. We all are. Kevin is a winner. He was emotional. And then you can say things like that sometimes. 'Am I afraid that he's going to stop playing international? You shouldn't talk about that now. Everyone needs to calm down.'
Belgium's next game will be a clash against Italy on October 10, 2024, at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
