Elon Musk's father has claimed his billionaire son has expressed an interest in buying Premier League team Liverpool in a bombshell interview.
Bet Football on Bet365Errol Musk has confirmed that the owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter), who is worth £340 billion ($424.6bn), is seemingly looking to expand his business empire by investing some of his astronomical wealth into the Premier League leaders.
When asked on Times Radio if his son wanted to buy Liverpool, he replied,
"I can’t comment on that, they’ll raise the price! Oh yes, [he has expressed a desire], but that doesn’t mean he’s buying it.
His father further explained the specific reason why Elon Musk wants to buy Liverpool, claiming his family has generational ties to the Merseyside city.
"He would like to yes, obviously. Anybody would want to - so would I. His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have relatives in Liverpool, and we were fortunate to know quite a few of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family. So, we are attached to Liverpool, you know."
Musk has emerged as Donald Trump's right-hand man over the last few months, reportedly donating around $270 million to the Republican Party prior to their election victory to help his return to the White House.
Liverpool is currently owned by Fenway Sports Group (FSG), and they have arguably done a good job since taking over from George Gillett and Tom Hicks in 2010, with Liverpool now reportedly valued at £4.3bn ($5.4bn).
