Cristiano Ronaldo became the first men's player in history to score 900 goals as the 39-year-old struck for Portugal in their Nations League game against Croatia on Thursday.

Ronaldo helped his team 2-0 up at the Estadio da Luz in the 34th minute when he scored from a Nuno Mendes cross. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, in celebration of the goal, got emotional at reaching another milestone of his career as Ronaldo celebrated while raising his hands to his face and dropping to his knees.
"It was emotional because it's a milestone. It seems like any other milestone, but only I know, and the people around me, how hard it is to work every day, to be physically and psychologically fit, to score 900 goals. It's a unique milestone in my career."

The Portuguese captain has now recorded a total of 131 international goals in his 209 appearances for his country.
However, during a recent interview on his YouTube channel with his former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand, Ronaldo claims "he wants to reach 1,000 goals."
Lionel Messi is the only other player to have passed 800 goals, as the Argentine have scored 838 for club and country.
