Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has hit back at his critics, who said his job was too big for him following Bayern Munich's stunning Champions League win 9-2 over Dinamo Zagreb.
Bet With Bet365Manchester City legend Kompany has seen his team maintain a 100 percent win record since the start of the new season. Bayern continues this brilliant form in Vincent's debut Champions League match as a coach with a record 9-2 victory over Dinamo at the Allianz Arena.
During the 9-2 win, Harry Kane set a new record, as he became the leading English goalscorer in Champions League history with 33 goals, surpassing the previous record of 30 held by Wayne Rooney.
During his post-match conference, Kompany hit back at critics.
"I'll tell you something in a quick way just to prove a point. "I was born in Brussels, my dad was a refugee who came from Congo. "What are my chances of even playing in the Premier League, winning something as a player, playing for the national team? The odds were 0.000 something. Now I'm a coach. "Do you just stop believing in yourself and what you can achieve because of what other people say? "The mentality is to keep going and in the end if you fail you fail, if you succeed you succeed. but you can always become better. "Online you can always find stuff so I really don't take it personal."
Bayern Munich appointed the young manager Kompany after he led Burnley back to relegation last season from the Premier League, leading to criticism about the experience of the coach. He succeeded Thomas Tuchel, who failed to win any trophy for the club for the first time in 12 years last season.
Kompany's men have so far beaten Wolfsburg, Freiburg, Holstein Kiel, and Zagreb, scoring 20 goals in the process. Their next game will be a clash in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen before facing Aston Villa in their second UEFA Champions League game.
