Defending champions Argentina secured their 16th Copa America title by defeating Colombia 1-0 with an extra-time goal from substitute Lautaro Martinez at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.

The tournament's leading goal scorer, Inter Milan striker Martínez, received a precise through ball from Giovani Lo Celso and lifted his effort over advancing Colombia goalkeeper Camilo Vargas in the 112th minute to give his side a 1-0 lead in the extra minutes. The goal propelled Argentina to its record 16th Copa title. Martínez ran to the bench to hug his 37-year-old captain after scoring the winning goal.
The game, which was delayed by more than an hour after thousands of fans without tickets tried to enter the stadium, was a cagey affair over 90 minutes but opened up in the extra period. Fans were left outside the stadium throughout the contest, despite claiming to have mobile tickets.
