With just 143 runs to chase, Mumbai made light work of the target thanks to a blistering 70 from Rohit Sharma and a rapid 40* from Suryakumar Yadav. The victory — their fourth on the bounce — lifted the five-time champions to third in the IPL 2025 standings with 10 points from nine games.

Sunrisers, meanwhile, were rocked early by a devastating opening burst. Boult removed Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma for single-digit scores, and Chahar accounted for Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ishan Kishan, reducing Hyderabad to a shocking 13/4 and then 35/5.
Only a remarkable 99-run partnership between Heinrich Klaasen and Abhinav Manohar gave the hosts something to bowl at. Klaasen smashed 71 off 44 balls in a spirited effort, while Manohar added 43 before being dismissed hit wicket — a rare occurrence in T20 cricket.

Mumbai’s chase began with the early loss of Ryan Rickelton, but Rohit’s fluent 46-ball knock — laced with eight fours and three sixes — ensured there were no nerves. Yadav’s cameo sealed the deal in just 15.4 overs.
Sunrisers, languishing at the bottom with just four points from eight matches, will need a turnaround in their upcoming away fixtures to stay alive in the competition.
