Tranmere have not had a great start to the season, only managing to earn three points from their first five league matches. They lost their first two league games but bounced back with a penalty shootout victory over Barnsley in the EFL Cup. Their first league win came in a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Harrogate Town. Unfortunately, since that win, they have suffered three straight defeats in all competitions, conceding a total of eight goals. Their latest defeat came at the hands of Leicester City, who beat them 2-0 in the second round of the EFL Cup thanks to goals from Wilfried Ndidi and Jamie Vardy. Now, Tranmere will shift their focus back to league games as they prepare to face Wrexham for the first time since sharing a 2-2 draw in the National League back in January 2018.
Tranmere Rovers Predicted Lineup
Murphy; Yarney, Davies, Turnbull, Pike; Morris, Merrie, Hendry; Taylor, Hawkes, Jennings
Wrexham form
Since their return to the Football League, Wrexham has struggled to secure wins, managing only one victory in their first five league games. Although Phil Parkinson may be disappointed with the lack of wins, he can take solace in the fact that his team has not lost a league game since their 5-3 defeat to MK Dons on the opening weekend of the season. In their last four matches, Wrexham has accumulated six points in the fourth tier. This week, they faced Bradford City in the EFL Cup, resulting in a 1-1 draw and a penalty shootout. Unfortunately, Wrexham was beaten 4-3, leading to their elimination from the second round. Now, they will be hoping to secure their first away victory of the season in Saturday's upcoming match.
Wrexham Predicted Lineup
Howard; Forde, O'Connell, Tozer, Boyle, Mendy; Jones, Young, Lee; Bickerstaff, Palmer
