Benjamin Bonzi vs Jenson Brooksby Prediction: Betting on Bonzi to Win in Four Sets

In the Wimbledon's last 64, the 47th-ranked Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi will meet the world No. 34, Jenson Brooksby. The guys met each other in February 2021 in South Africa, and the Americans won that fight. However, despite the result of that meeting, the bookmakers are on the side of the Frenchman.

Bonzi was quite a remarkable figure in the grass part of the season. The Frenchman reached the third round of the Stuttgart tournament and the Mallorca's semifinals. At the latter, Bonzi knocked Tabilo, Shapovalov, and Altmaier out of the draw, losing only to Tsitsipas. At Wimbledon, Bonzi quickly made it to the second round, beating the lucky loser, Kolar. Bonzi won 76% of his first serve and 81% of his second. On the receiving end, the Frenchman had 34%/63%, winners/unforced stats are 28/19.

For Brooksby, the upcoming match will be only his sixth on the grass in 2022. Before Wimbledon, he had a three-match losing streak - in Hertogenbosch to Gaston, in London to Krajinović, and in Eastbourne to Draper. At Wimbledon, Brooksby confidently defeated the veteran from Kazakhstan, Mikhail Kukushkin, in three sets in an hour and 52 minutes. Brooksby had three aces and zero doubles, won 71% of points on first serve and 61% on second, 46%/62% on receptions, and winners/unforced errors are 23/13.

Brooksby played well against Kukushkin, and there's no doubt Bonzi will have a tough time tomorrow. However, it's hard to compare the current Bonzi and Kukushkin, ranked only 164th. Benjamin was excellent on grass and failed only two matches to Tsitsipas. We believe Bonzi will beat Brooksby in four sets.
