Caroline Garcia
Garcia marches into the game after beating Biana Andreescu 6-3, 6-2. Garcia sent down 8 Aces but had a so-so first serve% of 59. She had the first and second serve% win both in the late 60s which is still decent. However, it was breaking the serve that Garcia got right in the previous game. Caroline has been in great touch since late July or so and she has not lost more than four games in a set, not dropping even a single set in the first three games
It will be interesting to see if it will translate into a deep run or even a potential title run for the French stalwart. Remember this is the first time Caroline has made it to the Round of 16 in US Open. When Garcia won the Cincinnati Masters just a couple of weeks away, it is clear that she was bound to at least make it this far. However, the draws are going to be tough from now on.
Alison Riske-Amritraj
Alison has had to fight her way to the Round of 16 after having beaten Xiyu Wang 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Alison was outmatched 36-40 in terms of receiving points while her 53-47 service points advantage is what gave her the game in the end. Before this game, Alison was pushed to the limit by Camila Osorio in a game that involved two tiebreakers. In that game, she did capture a 14-points advantage on the receiving points.
This is the first time Alison has made it to the Fourth Round of the US Open and her best performance during a Grand Slam was during 2019 Wimbledon when she reached the Quarter-Final. Riske would fancy a deep run here but it will not be easy considering that the competition level is heating up and she has been given trouble earlier as well. After drawing Eleana Yu, her easiest match-up, things have been tricky for Alison.
Caroline Garcia vs Alison Riske-Amritraj Head-to-Head
Garcia and Alison have met thrice and Alison has won all three times. They last met during Nottingham Open in June this year where Alison won in two sets.
Expert Betting Tips
The Head-to-Head between the two teams would have meant that the bookmakers would back Alison to win here but that is not the case at all. The bookmakers have clearly backed Garcia to win this and it is clear why, Garcia is rolling in a big way and she has been becoming better by each day. But will she prove the bookmakers right? The way she is playing, I’d back her too but I also think Alison will push her to three sets.
