Brandon Nakashima
Brandon Nakashima has had ups and downs throughout the season. Despite reaching a career-high position of World No. 49 in July, the unseeded American has since dropped to 69th. So far, he has 21 victories and 18 defeats.
The 21-year-old has yet to win a championship in his career. His finest results have come in the quarterfinals of the Sydney International, Libema Open, Atlanta Open, and Los Cabos Open. He had his finest Grand Slam performance this year at the Wimbledon Championships, as he reached the fourth round before succumbing to eventual runner-up Nick Kyrgios.
In the second round of the New York Open, Nakashima defeated 17th seed Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets, 7-6(5), 7-5, 6-3. The American defeated Pavel Kotov in straight sets in the first round.
Jannik Sinner
Sinner breezed through his second-round encounter, outwitting American Cristopher Eubanks in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6(8), 6-2, after surviving a challenging first round against Daniel Altmaier in five sets.
The young Italian has had a successful year, with a 40-11 win-loss record. This season, he has performed admirably at the Grand Slams, reaching the quarterfinals of both the Australian Open and Wimbledon. He advanced to the fourth round of the French Open before being forced to quit due to an injury.
Despite suffering a few injuries over the season that forced him to miss games, the 21-year-old has managed to deliver a few impressive outcomes. At the Croatia Open, he won his first championship of the year and his sixth overall, defeating defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the final. Sinner also advanced to the quarterfinals of the Dubai Open, the Miami Open, the Monte Carlo Masters, and the Italian Open.
Expert Betting Tips
Sinner will want to avoid serving towards Nakashima's backhand in order to give himself a better chance against the American. The more experienced Italian may find some difficulties, but should prevail in this encounter.
