Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Novak Djokovic Prediction: A fitting finale! Will Stefanos halt the Novak train?

The Grand Slams have a prestigious history and their allure continues to arrest the attention of a plethora of tennis lovers. The WTA leg of the Australian Open concluded yesterday in a sensational fashion, and Aryna Sabalenka lifted the trophy after a tricky affair versus Elena Ryabkina. Talking about tricky affairs, Stefanos Tsitsipas will take on the threat of Novak Djokovic in the title game.

Stefanos come into this match after a superb 7-6, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 in the Semi-Final against Karen Khachanov. This was an intense battle with two tiebreakers and could have gone either way and by now, Tsitsipas is well-adept at overcoming such hard battles. The Greek nailed 18 Aces and had an amazing 82% win on first serve(70% first serve). Stefanos had a 94:88 service points edge and 51:35 receiving points advantage.

This was the second time when Tsitsipas was pushed to his limits. Youngster Jannik Sinner pushed him to five sets so the road has been thorny for the third-seeded player. However, he is battle-hardened by now. He doesn’t place limits upon himself and has mastered both the baseline and net game. This is the second Grand Slam Final for Stefanos after he reached the 2021 French Open Final. But will this be his first title?

Djokovic comes into the contest after defeating Tommy Paul 7-5, 6-1, 6-2 in the Semi-FInal. It could have been even more lopsided had Novak not squandered a 5-1 advantage. However. Paul’s comeback was shortlived and Djokovic went into one of those impenetrable zones to seal the deal. Novak had an impressive 61-38 service points edge and a 39-30 receiving points advantage.

Novak has now won four matches in a row without dropping a set, and as the tournament has advanced, his performances have become even more lethal. He has just dropped just one set, which was against Enzo Couacaud in the Second Round. Is this a surprise? Not at all, far from it. The Serb has won nine Australian Open Grand Slams(!) and is hunting for his 22nd Grand Slam title of all time.

Stefanos and Novak have met 12 times and Novak has won 10 of these battles. They just met recently during the ATP Finals and Djokovic won it in two sets.

The h2h advantage and the overall amazing track record says all about who is the favorite here. Stefanos has had to push hard to get here while Djokovic has been blunting his opponents like they are newbies on the scene. It means that Stefanos’ chances look slim here. I believe he will take at least one set but Djokovic will win in the fourth set.
