Stefano Tsitsipas vs. Corentin Moutet Prediction: Tsitsipas Might Have to Fight Through

On Thursday, November 3, world number five Stefanos Tsitsipas will face Frenchman and 64th-ranked Corentin Moutet in the third round of the 2022 Paris Masters.

Tsitsipas was undoubtedly going to win, but the fact that he strolled to a straight-set victory against Dan Evans in only an hour and 21 minutes screamed volumes about his confidence.

Tsitispas defeated Evans 6-3, 6-4 in a possibly banana-peel match. Tsitispas entered the competition after reaching the finals in Astana and Stockholm, but after losing in the second round in Vienna.

Tsitsipas hit eight aces and faced - and saved - one break-point to win the match, and he broke Evans once in each of the two sets. And, despite missing five other break-point possibilities, the Greek player was never put under any form of pressure during the encounter.

He won approximately 80% of his first serve points and 67% of his second serve points.

Tsitsipas might be a headache for a few players, including his 64th-ranked opponent in round three, with that sort of energy behind his serving.

Moutet had never advanced to the third round of his home Masters 1000 tournament before today, and he needed to beat world number 13 Cameron Norrie to do so.

And, while Moutet required three sets to beat Norrie, there was no disputing his toughness as he pounced on his opponent to win 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (3).

Moutet showed no symptoms of tiring in a nearly three-hour encounter, converting his second match-point to seal the victory.

Moutet had to win a couple of qualification matches to get into the main draw before facing Borna Coric in a three-setter in his opener.

Can the Frenchman, who is presently ranked 51st in the world, pose a threat to the world number five?

Tsitsipas will be a favorite, but with the ATP Finals on the horizon, motivation will be an issue. For the Greek player, the best way to look at it is that he has never won a hard court Masters 1000 championship, and this will be a good moment to go the distance.
