Carlos Alcaraz's homecoming was ruined by Felix Auger-Aliassime. On Friday afternoon, Canada defeated Spain 2-1 in the Davis Cup group round. Auger-Aliassime, who dominated on his serve with 16 aces, defeated Alcaraz 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-2. He broke Alcaraz late in the second set and twice more in the third. They rallied from behind in the decider to defeat Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez 4-6, 6-4, 7-5. Spain, who defeated Serbia 3-0 on Wednesday, will meet South Korea on Sunday to see who advances to the quarterfinals in Malaga in November.

South Korea lost two defeats in a row. Miomir Kecmanovic defeated Soonwoo Kwon 6-3, 6-3 to keep Serbia's Davis Cup hopes alive in Group B. Dusan Lajovic won 6-4, 6-0 against Seong-chan Hong, while Miomir Kecmanovic won 6-3, 6-3 over Soonwoo Kwon to win the victory and keep Serbia's Davis Cup qualification hopes alive in Group B. In the doubles, Ji Sung Nam and Min-Kyu Song defeated Nikola Cacic and Filip Krajinovic 6-4, 6-2 to save the Koreans from being shut out. Park Seung-men Kyu's will be pulling for Canada against Serbia while also requiring a massive upset against the host team on Sunday to keep their slender Davis Cup ambitions alive.
