Magda Linette vs. Yulia Putintseva Predictions: Putintseva to win in straight sets

The matchup between Magda Linette and Julia Putintseva is scheduled for August 22, 2022, in Cleveland as part of the competition's 1/16 finals. In Ohio, The Tough Girls will battle. Of course, we eagerly anticipate the beginning of a thrilling conflict.

Beginning as a defensive player, Linette's mobility was good, and she often struck the ball from the baseline. The Pole, however, has started to see more success when she changed her playing strategy from being a counterpuncher to aggressively seeking out opportunities to score points on the court. Since teaming up with Mark Gellard, Linette has also focused on developing her mental game.

At the Charleston Open, Putintseva began her clay-court season. She was defeated by American Amanda Anisimova, the 15th seed and eventual semifinalist, in the second round. In her one match for Kazakhstan against Germany in the Billie Jean King Cup, Putintseva defeated Angelique Kerber in three sets. 

Kazakhstan ultimately defeated Germany 3-1 in the match. She defeated sixth-seeded Ajla Tomljanovi in the Istanbul Cup in the quarterfinals. She was defeated by qualifier Anastasia Potapova in the semifinals. In Madrid, she was defeated by 14th seed Coco Gauff in the second round. At the Italian Open, after advancing past qualification, Putintseva defeated eighth-seeded and world No. 10 Garbie Muguruza in the second round to earn her fourth top-ten victory overall. She dropped the third round.

Putintseva will exercise some caution given Linette's dominance in the competition. But because she is a better player, she ought to defeat the Pole in straight sets.
