Jenson Brooksby vs John Isner Prediction: Atlanta feasts eyes on all-American battle

Atlanta has historically been an amazing venue for sporting events, this is the city where the 1996 Summer Olympics occurred but it is much more than that. It is located in the USA, which is the home to some of the most renowned names that have graced different arenas of sports and always leave us gasping. Two such USA athletes in Jenson Brooksby and John Isner will battle it out. 

Jenson walks into the game after defeating Mackenzie McDonald 6-3, 6-4 in a game that was closer than the scoreline suggests. Jenson had a 65% first serve compared to 69% by Mackenzie. Jenson also did a great job of defeating Benoit Paire 6-3, 6-1 during the Round of 32. Brooksby has done a great job of breaking opponents’ serve in both the games thus far.

Jenson is just 21 and has done a great job this year, reaching the ranking of 33 in June and currently ranked at 43, which means that he has a promising career ahead. Jenson will need to make deeper runs against quality opponents, something he has improved upon recently. Brooksby has the potential to become the number one player in the USA, and it will not be a surprise the way he is going.

Unsurprisingly, John made it to the Quarter-Finals here after earning a wildcard to the Round of 16 where he defeated Ben Shelton 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 in what was a close game through and through. It was a game where both players were on the top of their serve game where the service points were tied at 79 as Isner nailed 16 Aces compared to 13 by Shelton.

The 37-year-old Isner has still got it and as a 6 feet 8 inches player, his height enables him to create difficult angles. Coupled with a strong forehand, he is a challenging match-up for even top-ranked players. He is a 25th ranked player as of now and has been a top-thirty player for some time.

This is the first time Jenson and John will meet in their professional careers. The age difference is appalling and that can give Isner some edge.
