The WTA scene has shifted to the clay court and it is because of the French Open tournament which will be held in around a month. We have seen countless brilliant battles on the clay when it comes to this Open but before that, we have a long ground to cover. And to cover some of that ground, Iga Swiatek is going to take on Bernarda Pera.

Swiatek enters the affair after defeating Julia Grabher 6-3, 6-2 in the Round of 64. Iga had an inferior 64%-84% first serve compared to Julia. However, she hit more winners on first serve, having a 65-50% advantage. This helped her pinch out a 36-22 service points advantage. Julia did much better in terms of her return game, but even then Iga had a slim 21-18 receiving points edge. This wasn’t an unexpected result considering Iga is number one in the rankings.
Bernarda Pera
Bernarda comes into the fray after registering an impressive 6-1, 6-3 win against Tatjana Maria. Both players had a rather off game in terms of first serve, getting just 49% in that regard. However, Pera had a 10% advantage in terms of winners on first serve and she registered a 35-24 service points edge which proved to be handy in the end. She also outplayed Maria in terms of receiving points, nabbing a 23-14 advantage. Pera is currently ranked so he is a challenging opponent.
Iga Swiatek vs Bernarda Pera Head-to-Head
Although they have met in a Qualifiers way back in 2019 during the Birmingham Classic, this will be the first time these two will meet in a main draw.
Expert Betting Tips
Iga is certainly going to carry an edge and her reputation as an opening round is imposing and she dusts off early round match-ups like they are nothing. Pera is a dogged opponent but she can be overwhelmed by Swiatek’s power. I expect a Switek win in two sets.
