Grigor Dimitrov vs Aslan Karatsev Prediction: Both Opponents are Motivated

Dimitrov played only two matches at the United Cup this season, but both in 2022. First, he lost in three sets to Stefanos Tsitsipas and beat David Goffin in two sets. Given that he fought Tsitsipas, who in turn won all four matches at this tournament, the current tonus of Dimitrov is alright. But much will be revealed in the game. His best performance in Melbourne was back in 2017 when Grigor reached the semifinals but lost to Rafael Nadal in five sets.

Aslan Karatsev also made it to the AO semifinals, but four years later than Dimitrov, in the 2021 season. He lost in that draw to Novak Djokovic, the tournament's winner and the most-titled player at the Australian Open of all time. Before the AO-2023, Aslan had four matches in Pune, defeating Andujar, van Rijthoven and Martinez Portero. In the semifinals, he lost to the Dutchman Griekspoor in two sets.

It's doubtful that the upcoming game will be a short-lived one. Both guys have an experience on the Australian courts. Both will do everything to repeat their past successes. So we expect a long and tense bout and the reached total over. As for the outcome, we side with the higher-ranked Dimitrov. We believe he will make it to the next round of the first Majors.
