Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Jason Kubler Prediction: Kubler to surprise everyone again

One of the matches in the Newport tournament round of 16 will feature Auger-Aliassime and Jason Kubler. They haven't played each other yet, but have been pretty active in the grass part of the season. Kubler is quoted as the outsider for the upcoming game. However, let's not forget that the Australian made it to the last eight at Wimbledon and has already played one match in Newport, unlike the Canadian.

Auger-Aliassime's grasscourt stats in 2022 are positive, but it's unlikely the Canadian was satisfied with his performance. Defeat at Hertogenbosch at the hands of Tim van Rijthoven, loss at Halle to Hurkacz and at Hurlingham to Nadal as well as a four-set loss to Cressy in the first round of Wimbledon. As for a world No. 9, the result is weak. Odd that the bookmakers consider Auger-Aliassime to be such a big favorite for the upcoming game.

Before the ecent Wimbledon, Kubler was known only to tennis experts and Challenger fans. The Australian had not played a single match on the grass before the English major in 2022. However, eventually he reached the last eight in suburban London, where he lost in a three-set match to Eastbourne winner Taylor Fritz. Kubler knocked Evans, Novak and Sock out of the main draw. The match against Sock was a five-set affair. Kubler played one match in Newport and defeated his compatriot, Jordan Thompson, 6-2, 6-3, in two sets. Surprisingly, Kubler, though confidently outlasted Thompson, did not have a single point and two double faults the entire match. Kubler won 79% of the points on the first serve and 63% on the second serve. The Aussie's serve tally was 30% on Thompson's first serve and 67% on his second serve.

Auger-Aliassime is a top-nine ATP player, but he's not doing everything he's supposed to do on the court this season. As for Kubler, he has become a real star at Wimbledon, and as he showed in his match against Thompson he's still got a lot of fight left in him. We think the Aussie is undervalued, he will definitely dominate the game, and we won't be surprised if he makes it to the quarterfinals in Newport. Here are the betting options for the meeting:
