Schwartzman has never advanced past the second round in Paris.
His Masters success has primarily been restricted to clay, the surface on which he excels, and on which he reached his one final in 2022 back in February in Rio, when he met the force of nature that is Carlos Alcaraz.
Unfortunately for him, he is not finishing the season on a high note. He has lost all five matches he has played since reaching the third round of the US Open.
This run featured first-round losses in Tel Aviv, Antwerp, and, most recently, Vienna, when he was defeated in straight sets by Andrey Rublev.
Maxime Cressy
Cressy will make his debut appearance in this competition when he takes against Schwartzman. However, he has only made it through the first round of a Masters event twice previously, most recently in Montreal.
Unlike his opponent, though, he has won on tour this year.
After losing in the finals of the Melbourne Summer Set and Eastbourne, he won his first ATP circuit title at Newport Beach with the Hall of Fame Open trophy.
An injury suffered during the US Open appeared to halt his growth for a while, and his performances have not been as excellent afterwards.
Last week, he was eliminated in the first round of the Basel Open by Swiss player Dominic Stricker.
Expert Betting Tips
Although Schwartzman is the higher-ranked player, his end-of-season form is weak, and the surface looks to favour the American.
