Denis Shapovalov began his campaign against Jurij Rodionov in Vienna. He broke serve in the eighth game of the first set to take a 4-3 lead. The Austrian, on the other hand, rallied back to equal the score in the following game.
The Canadian broke his opponent's serve once again to go 5-4 up and then served out the set in the next game to win it. He broke Rodionov's serve to start the second set and held service in the next game to take a 2-0 lead. Following this, Shapovalov maintained his advantage.

Nishioka took the opening break of the deciding set, leading 3-1. Fritz then changed the script, winning the match 6-7(4), 7-6(7), 6-3 in five games.
