Adelaide, Australia
This is arguably the toughest stage for both players since the start of the competition. Daria Kasatkina and Jessica Pegula go toe-to-toe for a place in the final of the WTA Adelaide competition. Both players have enjoyed a smooth ride throughout the competition, winning all the games they played in before now. The bookmakers have had their say on who stands a chance to progress and all eyes would be on Jessica Pegula to pull off a masterclass to see off Daria. However, Daria Kasatkina has every right to feel confident ahead of this clash. Nevertheless, these players promise a very exciting challenge and it’s a game neither player would want to lose.

The Russian superstar has been one of the standout players in the tennis world, despite sitting in 15th place on the WTA ranking. Daria Kasatkina won all 3 games of the tournament to book her place in the semifinal stage and she is staking her claim in the final. Before the WTA Adelaide competition, Daria Kasatkina lost in the quarterfinal of the WTA Brisbane a week ago. She had a very poor game, as she lost to Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets. But that did not affect her in any way in the WTA Adelaide.
She started off with a win over Claire Liu and the game ended in just 2 sets. Daria won 12 games and grabbed a total of 77 points at the end of the game. Her next challenge was against Anna Kalinskaya and she won in 3 sets. She won 18 games and scored 117 points in total. Finally in her last game against Laura Siegemund, she got an easy ride as the game was a walkover.
Jessica Pegula
Jessica has the attention of probably every fan to win this game and probably pick up the trophy. She is considered a huge favorite to beat Daria Kasatkina in this game and she needs to be on top of her game to achieve that. Her United Cup involvement ended with a bang, as she defeated Ajla Tomljanovic in straight sets before heading to the WTA Adelaide tournament.
She wasted no time in the tournament as she hit the ground running in her first game against Bernarda Pera. She won Bernarda in 3 sets while she managed to record 7 aces, 16 games won and a total of 111 points won by the end of the game. And in her next match, she made no mistakes in defeating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. She won the game in 3 sets and her stats were: 9 aces, 5 double faults, 50/67 first serve points, 22/48 second serve points, 10/13 break points saved, 5 break points converted, 19 games won and 108 points won.
Head to Head
Jessica Pegula has all the bragging rights with her excellent record against Daria Kasatkina. Both players have played 2 matches against each other in the past and Jessica Pegula won both matches. The most recent meeting was in the WTA Tokyo back in September last year and Jessica Pegula won in straight sets, just as the previous clash before.
Analysis and Predictions
Jessica Pegula looks like the most sensible pick for this game. She is a more experienced player compared to Daria and she has the records to prove it. This should not be a hard game for the American and we can expect her to cover the handicap.
