Daniil Medvedev vs Stanislas Wawrinka Prediction: Betting on a tight match

One of the matches of ATP Metz will be between Daniil Medvedev and Stanislas Wawrinka. The men have played each other three times (2:1 in favor of Daniil), but the Swiss won the most recent head-to-head meeting at the Australian Open.

Medvedev failed to confirm his US Open title, dropping out of the tournament in the fourth round and losing to Nick Kyrgios in four games. But before that, Daniil had won all his matches with a score of 3:0, knocking out Kozlov, Rinderknecht, and Wu Yibing. We haven't seen Daniel on the court since September fifth, but we'll remind you that Medvedev is not yet close to guaranteeing his place among the top eight who will play at the London Final Tournament. The US Open let him down. However, things can be rectified at Metz. Medvedev didn't play in Metz last season, so Daniel will boost his total by 250 points if he wins in France.

For Wawrinka, the upcoming meeting will be his fourth at the Metz. The Swiss started the tournament by qualifying, knocking out Pierre and Piros. In the first round, Stanislas beat Sousa of Portugal (7:6 and 6:2 in two sets). The match lasted an hour and a half; Wawrinka served eight times and made four double faults. Wawrinka won 83% of his first and 59% of his second serve. 

The bookmakers see Medvedev as the big favorite for the game. We will pay attention to the fact that Wawrinka has better playing practice because Daniel has not yet played a single official indoor match. In contrast, the Swiss have already won three times in Metz, not against the weakest opponents. On top of that, Wawrinka beat Daniil in the Majors. All in all, we don't expect an easy game for Medvedev on Thursday.
