Daniil Medvedev vs Andrey Rublev Prediction: Russian compatriots collide in mouth-watering battle

The ATP players are basically globetrotters, going through different continents, climates, and cultures. This means that they are acquainted with different conditions and also have to face different sets of problems each month. On top of that, there is the adrenaline of playing against difficult competition. This fact can’t be stressed enough as Russians Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev take on each other.

Medvedev enters the picture after an impressive effort as he defeated Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4 to enter the Final with a bang., During this huge win, Medvedev chalked up 8 Aces and this was a closer game than the scoreline suggests. Daanil had just 22-21 receiving points and a 41-40 service points edge. After a third-round exit in the Australian, Daanil has been on fire, winning two straight titles(ATP Rotterdam and Qatar Open). He has now won 13 games in a row and after defeating Djokovic, his push for a third title in a row only picks up more steam. He has been the number one player in the world so these results aren’t a surprise to those who are aware of the tennis scene.

Andrey marches into the affair after another close match as he defeated Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6(11-9) in what was another tie-breaker-infused scenario for him. Andrey was slightly outplayed on the service game, being outscored 50-51 in terms of service points. However, his return game was locked in as he earned a 33-20 receiving points edge which proved to be the difference in the end. Out of the nine sets he has played thus far, he has been required to win seven games five times. Qatar Open and Rotterdam ended quickly for the Russian but he showed some great fights in the Australian Open.

Daniil and Rublev have met six times and Medvedev has won four of these battles. Rublev has won the last two matches and the last one came in Italy last year.

This is a cracker of a battle from the looks of it. The h2h is in favor of Medvedev but that doesn’t mean much considering Andrey is on a two-game winning streak. I favor Daanil here but I do envision a long three-set match-up here.
