Daniel Evans vs David Goffin: Betting on the Briton

In the first round of the men's Australian Open, one of the main events will be the confrontation between Evans and Goffin. The men have played each other twice, and the British player won both. Not surprisingly, Evans is quoted as the favourite of the upcoming meeting.

Evans has been a notable figure of the season start. Daniel contributed three points to his national team at the ATP Cup, but it was not enough for the British team to qualify even for the playoffs. Evans played three matches at the ATP Cup tournament in Sydney, beating Martinez Portero and Cressey 2:0 before dropping to Karatsev in three sets in the semifinals. It should be noted that Evans has a meagre percentage of faults, the Briton lacks power in attack, but in defence, he is like a wall.

The Belgian was also quite active at the start of 2022. At the Melbourne tournament, Goffin failed in the game with Molcan. At the Sydney tournament, he beat Bagnis and Kudla. David withdrew from the draw after the first set against Murray in the quarterfinals, citing an injury. The Briton won the first game with a score of 6:2.

Besides the fact that Evans beat Goffin twice on tour, Evans is in better shape than the Belgian at the start of the 2022 season. It's not certain Daniel is in the same form as in Sidney. If he is, I don't think he'll be able to take on Evans, who's been hampered by injury. We believe the Briton will get through the first round of the Australian Open without trouble.
