Corentin Moutet vs. Borna Coric Prediction: Coric Holds the Edge

On Tuesday, November 1, home favourite Corentin Moutet will face Croatia's Borna Coric in the opening round of the ATP Paris 2022.

Frenchman Moutet enjoys the backing of the fans, but his form hasn't been great, winning only 5 of his past 10.

He did, however, overcome a difficult opponent in compatriot Ugo Humbert in straight sets a few days ago, which should give him some confidence heading into this match.

His prior victory over Geoffrey Blancaneaux was not his greatest, despite leading by a set and averted a disastrous loss.

The Frenchman has a win-loss record of 38-20 for 2022, but he has a losing record of 5-6 on indoor courts, which is troubling going into this match.

Coric has been outstanding since August, despite a straight loss to a very steady Denis Shapovalov last week in Vienna.

After losing in straight sets to Marin Cilic in Montreal, the Croatian stunned everyone by winning the Cincinnati Masters event, knocking out Rafael Nadal early in a deciding set and going on to defeat Roberto Bautista Agut, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Cameron Norrie, and Stefanos Tsitsipas, all in straight sets.

Coming into this match, the Croatian's past ten results are 7-3. Despite not playing many matches in 2022, he is 10-5 this year on hard courts (3-1 indoors).

Given that Moutet defeated a tough Humbert in straight sets, don't be shocked if this one goes the distance. Most bookies have Coric winning in three sets at 3/1, which we believe is a good bargain. In any case, Coric should come out on top in this match.
