Caroline Garcia vs. Aryna Sabalenka Predictions: Will Garcia Be Able to Outplay Sabalenka?

The Cincinnati Open semifinal matchup between the sixth seed Aryna Sabalenka and French qualifier Caroline Garcia will take place on Saturday.

Garcia is experiencing a fantastic year. She has accumulated 31 victories and 15 defeats. Through 2020 and 2021, she struggled with inconsistent performances and a lack of form, which caused her WTA ranking to drop to No. 74 at the start of this year.

She is now rated No. 35 in the world. This year, she won the Bad Houmborg Open by defeating Bianca Andreescu in the final 7-6 (5), 6-4, 6-4, and the Poland Open by defeating Ana Bogdan 6-2, 6-1.

In both the Palermo Ladies Open and Sydney International, the Frenchwoman advanced to the quarterfinals. At the Ladies Open Lausanne and the Lyon Open, she also advanced to the last four.

The 28-year-old battled her way through qualifying rounds in Cincinnati to reach the semifinals. She defeated Petra Martic, Maria Sakkari, and Elise Mertens in the main draw before defeating local favourite Jessica Pegula 6-1, 7-5 in the quarterfinals.

Despite serving 12 double faults, Sabalenka defeated Zhang Shuai in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (1), in the Cincinnati Open semifinals. Shelby Rogers was defeated by Sabalenka earlier by scores of 6-4, 6-7 (2), and 6-4. She defeated Anna Kalinskaya 6-3, 4-1 in the Round of 32 before forfeiting the match.

This season, the Belarusian has fallen short of expectations. She began the year as the No. 2 player in the world, but has since dropped to No. 7. Sabalenka has so far had 24 victories and 16 defeats.

This year, the 24-year-old has not yet received a prize. Her finest performances to date have been her second-place finishes at the Stuttgart Open and the Libema Open, when she was defeated by Iga Swiatek and Ekaterina Alexandrova, respectively, for the crowns.

She also advanced to the quarterfinals of the Qatar Open and the semifinals of the Italian Open before being defeated both times by Swiatek.

Garcia could be able to go to the finals in Cincinnati if she can this time outperform Sabalenka.
