Carlos Alcaraz vs Rafael Nadal Prediction: Nadal hasn’t a realistic chance of winning

Prior to his Shanghai Masters quarter-final against Machac, the Spaniard had a 12-match winning streak: two Davis Cup victories, two Laver Cup wins, a tournament win in Beijing and three wins in Shanghai over China's Shan and Wu Yibing and Frenchman Monfils, all three in two sets. In Riyadh, Alcaraz has a win over Rune. The match against Rune was 6:4, 6:2, the game lasted an hour and 12 minutes, the Spaniard had 6 aces and two double faults, won 100 per cent of points on his first serve and 60 per cent on his second serve.

For Rafael, the current tournament is likely to be the penultimate of his career. At least Nadal has announced that after Saudi Arabia he will only play for Spain's Davis Cup team in the final round of the draw. Before that, Rafa played the Olympics in Paris, where he barely defeated Fucovic, but lost to Novak Djokovic in two sets. We haven't seen Nadal on court since 29 July and the match against Novak.

We doubt very much that Nadal has a realistic chance of winning the upcoming game. Alcaraz has picked up his form towards the end of the season, as we can see from Carlos' results and the style of his victory over Rune in the quarter-finals of the current draw. Nadal, on the other hand, is finishing his season and his career, and Rafael is clearly no match for Carlos, who is looking to regain the top spot in the ATP rankings.
