Carlos Alcaraz vs Jack Draper Prediction: Jack is Fine, but Carlos Still Outclasses

In the third round of the Indian Wells Masters, Carlos Alcaraz played against Tallon Griekspoor, No. 36. Frankly, we thought it would be easier to win, but the first set was a tie-break game, which the Pirenian won 7-4. The second set lasted 42 minutes. Alcaraz won it 6-3. His stats against Griekspoor: 0/3 aces/doubles, 75%/68% of his first serve points, 28%/48% of his reception, 13/6 winners/unforced errors. Recall that the Masters at Indian Wells is Carlos' first hard-court tournament in 2023. Before, the Spaniard had two clay events in South America.

The last time we saw Draper was the Australian Open, where he lost in the first round to Rafa Nadal in four sets. Despite a break of nearly three months, Draper played three matches at ease. He did not give a single set so far, knocking out Riedi, Evans, and Murray. It turns out that in Indian Wells, Jack won kind of an away British tennis championship. The match against Murray lasted more than two hours. The first set ended in a tie-break, which Draper won 8-6. Murray took two games in the second game. Draper's stats for the game: 8/1 aces/doubles, 73%/68 points won on first serve, 32%/53% on reception, 31/12 winners/unforced errors.

Draper is well prepared, winning all three matches in California without losing a set. Note the British player's good statistics on the winnings/unforced ratio, which only confirms the outsider's tonus. Alcaraz still needs more stability. He plays his matches discontinuously, and although he is superior to his opponent, we do think not as much as the bookmakers think. We believe that we will see Carlos in the quarterfinals, but it is unlikely that the upcoming match will be easy for the Spaniard.
