Aslan Karatsev vs Cameron Norrie Prediction: We are on the Norrie's side

Aslan Karatsev had a solid first-round match against Lukas Rosol. But for the Briton Norrie, the upcoming fixture will be the first on the court in the northern kingdom's capital. 

Karatsev's season has clearly not gone well, and not for nothing; Aslan dropped to 45th place in the ATP rankings. After failures in New York, Metz, Tel Aviv, and Astana, Karatsev finally won in Florence. Aslan's victim was the Dutchman Griekspoor. True, the match was not even played to the end. Tallon withdrew from the draw in the second set after losing the first. But still, formally, Karatsev won. In the second round, Aslan lost to Sweden's Ymer in three sets. At the Stockholm tournament, Karatsev defeated Rosol, as we wrote above. The match was short-lived for the 226th-ranked player, but he failed to hold his own against Aslan, winning only five games in two games. Karatsev served four times on one double fault and won 86% of points on his first serve and 65% on his second serve.

The Briton has formally only one win in his last five games: two defeats in the Davis Cup, one in the Laver Cup, a win in Seoul over Uchida, and a no-show against Brooksby. Norrie's last appearance on the court was on September 29, almost three weeks ago. It is difficult to say in what form the Englishman is now. However, bookmakers still consider Cameron the clear favorite. It should be noted that Norrie is on the list of contenders for the final tournament in London and is in eighth place with four positions remaining. That said, Zverev has an injury, and the German is unlikely to be back in action soon.

Aslan and Cameron once met at the grass tournament in London in June 2021. That match ended with the British player winning in two sets.

Karatsev has practiced on the court in Stockholm, and Aslan has already played one singles match here and beat the Czech Rosol. Karatsev has a negative experience of face-to-face meetings with the Briton. Just over a year ago, Aslan lost to Norrie in two sets. On the other hand, Karatsev is also as motivated as possible, given his poor statistics in the season. As a prediction for the match, we suggest betting on the positive handicap of the outsider and a long match.
