Anett’s lack of success during Grand Slams has been appalling, during Wimbledon, she couldn’t even make it past the Second Round. But when it comes to tournaments other than Grand Slams, the Estonian takes it up a notch as seen during the German Open, where she lost in the Finals to Bernarda Pera. Her record during the non-Grand Slam tournaments has been awesome and she has won a ton of games against players ranked below 10.
She comes into the game after defeating Ekaterina Gorgodze 6-0, 6-1 in one of the most lopsided wins you’ll ever see. She had an incredible 79% first serve win compared to 46% by Ekaterina and the 50% to 10% difference in the second serve win was equally impressive. Kontaveit Ekaterina with her power from the baseline and the frustration accumulated for Ekaterina unseated her in the end. Anett is really aggressive against players that are ranked low in the WTA rankings.
Lucie Havlickova
Lucie is just 17 and fresh on the WTA circuit, and it was during the Prague Open last year when she made her WTA debut. The hometown young-un defeated her compatriot Barbora Palicova 6-2, 7-6 in what was a strong showing. Her 80% first serve was impressive, winning an impressive 6/11 breakpoint. Lucie won the French Open Juniors but needs to prove herself among seniors, needing to accumulate ITF titles and improve upon the 700+ WTA ranking.
