Exeter Chiefs vs. Bath: An Outclass Match Awaits Us At Sandy Park

Those were defeats at the hands of Worcester and then-leaders Leicester Tigers. It means they still have a lot of work to do if they want to make the playoffs this season.

Their loss to the Leicester Tigers in their most recent league game at Sandy Park ended a two-match winning streak at home. It was also the first game this season that the Chiefs trailed at halftime at home. It hasn't been ideal, and Exeter has to step it up a level in such close competition for the playoff berths.

Bath has produced some much-improved form as the regular season draws to a close. Bath has gone unbeaten in three games since narrowly losing to league leaders Leicester. During that run, they defeated Newcastle and Bristol Bears before drawing with Sale last Saturday.

Bath led Sale Sharks by a large margin at halftime last Saturday at the Rec, but let the game slip away. They're on their way to Sandy Park, with virtually little traffic behind them on the route. Bath has only had one road victory this season. Bath won their previous away game against the Newcastle Falcons.

Bath's victory over the Falcons at Kingston Park was their first in the league away from home in over a year. Bath has lost 14 of their last 15 road games in all competitions.

This season, Bath has surrendered at least 20 points in all of their away games, which is a pattern. After losing 13 of their first 15 games this season, their recent three-match undefeated streak represents a significant improvement in form. The last time they went four games undefeated in succession was towards the end of the 2019/20 season.

Exeter Chiefs must be at their best at home this weekend to keep their top-four ambitions alive. They have an excellent record against Bath, and I anticipate it to continue this weekend at Sandy Park.
