England vs. Ireland: Will Ireland Make It to the Top?

After a successful completion of 3 weeks of the Six Nations, the series will be entering the second last week on 12 March 2022. The final game for this day will have England and Ireland competing at the Twickenham Stadium, England. 

England has been victorious in the last 2 of 3 rounds of the Six Nations, over Italy 33-0 and Wales 23-19. So far, the team seems to be doing way better than last year, when their game was a bit irregular. In the World Friendly International, England remained unbeaten for 5 consecutive games, by USA 43-29, Canada 70-14, Tonga 69-3, Australia 32-15, and South Africa 27-26. These wins were pretty commendable and can certainly not go unobserved. In 2020, England won a head to head with a score doubled to that of Ireland, 24-12. However, the squad lost a game to them last year. As per their performance, it doesn’t seem like England would want to get off the track of victory. Moreover, they’d be eager to stop Ireland from leading them in the H2H.

Ireland won their first game of the series to Wales 29-7 before losing to France in the second round. However, they regained their form and beat Italy in their last match, 57-6, a tremendous win. Last season Ireland continued piling wins like a pro after facing an unfortunate defeat to France 15-13. These victories were against Italy 48-10, Scotland 27-24, and a face off with England 32-18, which equalized their score. The coming game is a chance for the squad to not only continue at their best in the series but also gain a lead in the head-to-head. Moreover, Ireland is currently positioned second, just above England in standings, and winning the coming game will bring the team closer to the top.

As per the teams’ performance, it isn't easy to expect a lean of victory towards a single side. Nevertheless, Ireland’s chance to gain superiority can motivate the team to beat England once again.
