After making its first-ever appearance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, surfing will make its second-ever appearance at the Paris 2024 Olympics. However, this time around, the competition will have 8 more surfers than the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where they had just 40 surfers in both the men's and the women's categories–now 48 surfers will compete.
Despite a record of almost 10,000 miles away from Paris (host city), Teahupo'o in Tahiti will host the surfing games due to what the organisers see as where they could get excellent waves. The athletes have been provided with accommodations in a place different from other athletes. It was revealed that the Aranui 5, a cruise ship, will serve as the Olympic Village for surfing competitors at the Paris Olympics. Before resorting to using the Aranui 5 as an accommodation alternative, efforts were made to get a standard hotel to house the surfers. Still, they couldn’t get a hotel worthy of renovation to house the surfers within 45 minutes to their competition venue.

Vahine Fierro's time has come, and I see her getting the gold medal in this competition. Vahine Fierro is from French Polynesia, and she is familiar with waves in the Teahupo’o. She has been surfing these waves right from the beginning of her career, and it is expected of her to have a great relationship with the breaks. She recently dominated the 2024 Shiseido Tahiti Pro, securing her first-ever CT win as a wildcard. The dominance can be attributed to his familiarity with the village of Teahupo'o on the tropical island of Tahiti.
However, despite not being seen as one of the top contenders here in Paris, world number 1 Caitlin Simmers cannot be written off. The 18-year-old surfer has already paid the price to receive all the accolades attached to surfing. Although she has little experience surfing at this venue, she has a lot of momentum to get something out of nothing. However, I will pick Carissa Moore, the five-time world champion and reigning Olympic gold medalist, to get to the podium.

- Carissa Moore to finish top 3 for 2.35 odds
