Heading into this game, those defeats were Ireland 7s' recent in 10 matches, having won the prior eight. 

USA 7s have not played up to expectations in this Olympics, and this one, they will hope they can get things right. In their opener, this team drew France 7s 12-12 but went on to lose 38-12 to Fiji 7s in game 2. However, their third game against Uruguay 7s was good enough to see them make the playoffs, thanks to a 33-17 win. Despite those results, the USA 7s could not live up to expectations as they lost 18-0 against Australia 7s in the quarterfinal. Heading into this game, USA 7s are underdogs, and they will hope they can get things right here. 

USA 7s have not impressed a bit in this Olympic games, and I do not trust them a bit. While Ireland have been decent over the years, their performance in this Olympics are just below par. Yet, against the USA 7s, I expect little pressure from them, and based on what we have seen in the past, I expect a win for the Ireland 7s.
