France vs Guinea Prediction: France to book their knockout spot

France will take on Guinea in round 2 action of the Olympic Football Games. France come in as the favorites in this fixture, while Guinea are underdogs. How will this game end?

France had one of the best opening performances in this year’s Olympic Football Games, and in this one, they will look to keep things going. In their opener against the USA, France could not get a breakthrough in the first half, but their stunning second-half performance saw them score three times, with Lacazette, Michael Olise and Loic Bade all getting on the scoresheet for this side. Heading into this game, this team will look to do better, having missed out on making it to the knockout phase in the 2021 Olympics, winning one and losing two of their group-stage encounters. 

Guinea’s try was not enough in their opening game against New Zealand, and this team now has to do what it takes to win if they want to avoid early disqualification. In that game, this team conceded a penalty in the 24th minute of the game, which the goalkeeper saved. However, Matthew Garbett scored a rebound of that attempt. In the meantime, while Guinea thought they had leveled the scores through Aliou Balde’s strike, VAR ruled it out as offside. However, Guinea was able to score in the 72nd minute; this time, Amadou Diawara scored for them. Yet, this team conceded just four minutes, with that goal giving New Zealand the win. Heading into this game, a defeat for Guinea will put an end to their Olympic winning chances.  

France has a more robust and better squad compared to Guinea, which should be the difference here. Guinea, however, have a tough job ahead as they have also lost their opener, which should demand that they do better here. Yet, the France squad just have all the quality needed, and I do not see them being stopped here. Take France to win this encounter in what should be a dominant performance from them in both halves, especially in attack.
